Prebaiting is a great tactic to help you catch more fish, if you can get fish feeding confidently they become far less wary, which in turn, makes them far more susceptible to being caught. Applying bait without fishing is one of the best ways to achieve this and as with most things, the more effort you put in, the better the rewards will be regardless of the species you intend to target.
While many anglers believe prebaiting is only effective for carp, it can attract a variety of species to an area—including pike—by applying some of the techniques in this article

Our best tips
Consistency is key – Baiting up with less bait regularly, say every two or three days, is more beneficial than a large hit every now and then. It gives the fish chance to eat it and won't be visible to other anglers if the lake is clear.
Close to home – A venue close to your front door will enable you to visit regularly, and a quiet venue will allow you to soldier on undisturbed.
Find your spots – Take time locating your spots, you can’t just chuck bait anywhere and expect to catch! This is especially important on large expanses of water when fishing for species like bream.
THE BEST BEDCHAIRS WILL IMPROVE YOUR SLEEP HELPING YOU FISH TO THE BEST OF YOUR ABILITY.
Different areas – Particularly on busy venues, applying bait to two or three swims can pay. It will allow you to work around angling pressure and conditions.
Go undercover – To keep your campaign secretive, baiting up during the hours of darkness is advised. The last thing you want is someone else benefiting from your hard work.
Mind the birds – Swans will be avoided in water over 4ft deep, but ducks and coots will still be a problem. However, their activity will undoubtedly attract fish too. Use particle baits to make life hard for them.
Stick to one bait – Ideally, stick to using the same bait on your campaign. By doing this the fish will learn to search for it and very often, become preoccupied with it.
Every little helps – It doesn’t matter if you only prebait for a couple of days, although the best results generally come the longer you can do it, but anything is always better than none at all. If you know you will be returning to a swim the next day, throw some bait in as you leave to prime the area for your return.
Chunks of fish - Predatory fish like pike and zander can respond really well to small chunks of fish. Introduce 2inch chunks of your preferred deadbaits to help attract them to the area.
THE BEST PIKE RODS WILL HELP YOU LAND BIG PREDATORS THAT YOU HAVE WORKED HARD TO TEMPT.
Prebaiting can provide a massive edge, and you can almost guarantee that few, if any, other anglers will be doing it, especially on venues like canals. If you're willing to put in the effort, you'll catch more fish, and some of your best fishing days may come from prebaiting a few days beforehand. It’s also a great way to use up bait that may have been frozen for a while or leftover bait from a session, saving it from being wasted.
