The hybrids known as F1s have been a common sight in commercials for over a decade now, and fish that were stocked in the early days have, in some instances, since grown huge. Here are some of the best venues to target some of those big, crafty fish.
Lindholme Lakes, Epworth, Lincolnshire
You’ll find quality F1s on numerous lakes at this superb complex, with Bennys, Laurels and Loco all worth a go. Maggots are a sure-fire cold-water winner.

The Cunneries, Chorley, Lancashire
There are several lakes to choose from at this fantastic F1 venue, where rotating swims can be key to keeping the bites coming.

Packington Somers, Coventry, West Midlands
Little Geary’s is home to some massive F1s, and the maggot feeder is a reliable tactic. Don’t be afraid to search around your swim to locate the shoals.

Brafferton Fisheries, York, North Yorkshire
The F1 Lake is unsurprisingly a good choice for the species, but you’ll also find some good ones in Spring Lake, fish which can be caught on the feeder.

Lake Ross, Spalding, South Lincolnshire
This caravan park and fishery is known by locals for its excellent cold-weather sport. While the pole dominates, waggler and bomb tactics can also produce.

Earlswood Lakes, Solihull, West Midlands
There are absolutely loads of quality F1s in Engine Pool, where Hybrid-style feeder tactics, using pellets and wafters, can account for memorable hauls.

Peatling Pools, Pearling Parva, Leicestershire
Malcolm Pool is a good bet for plenty of bites. The pole will score, as will a small groundbait feeder, using maggot hookbaits.

There are some corking F1s in the match lakes. Even in the cooler months, the margins can produce. Find slightly deeper water and rotate swims to your left and right.

Horseshoe, New and John’s Match Lakes are all good options for a netful of fish. Try maggots, and you’ll catch plenty of silvers before the F1s arrive.
