Voted the UK’s number one river by Angling Times readers last year, the River Wye remains a dream destination for a fishing holiday.

The scenery is truly stunning, as is the river’s stock of hard-fighting barbel, chub, roach, pike and salmon.

A trip to this amazing river should be on every angler’s bucket list. Here’s our pick of places to stay...

The Wye is one of the best rivers in the UK for fishing

Underhill Farm, Foy

Just a few miles upstream of the town of Ross-on-Wye, this fantastic stretch of just measuring over a mile holds good numbers of chub to over 5lb, barbel to 12lb and pike to 20lb-plus.

It's a feature-packed bit of river too, with deep gullies and fast shallows making for varied and challenging fishing.

Cottage accommodation is available at the farm, and there is vehicle access along the entire length of the stretch.
