Holbar is home to very good numbers of exceptional roach. Pole fishing with maggots and casters is a great way to catch them here.

Lake Two is a top silverfish water. You’ll catch on a waggler early in the session, but prime a short pole line too for later on in the day.

Lakeside Leisure, Chapel St Leonards, Lincolnshire
There are good numbers of roach at this attractive coastal fishery, including some pretty big ones. It’s quite deep in places, but waggler tactics can produce.

Purple Badger Lakes, Beeby, Leicestershire
Head to the Coarse Lake for a net of redfins. It slopes down to 17ft, so offers good cold-weather sport. The pole with maggots is a good bet.

There’s superb silverfish sport to be had at Shatterford. Be prepared to fish off bottom as the lakes are deep and the roach are often willing to feed shallow.

Islands Lake has produced some huge bags of roach, as has Moat Lake. Hemp and tares can be worth trying to single out the better fish.

Formerly known as Tanyard Fisheries, Latchetts is a good bet for a few bites. Head to Margarets Lake and feed natural baits.
