Tom Maker:
Just like in the summer, I keep my mix really simple. The main thing that I change is the boilies, going from Krill to Manilla. I pour some boilies in the bucket and add some lake water and Cloudy Manilla liquid. I then leave it overnight to soak and the boilies will become nice and soft, which makes them easier for the fish to digest.
The cloudy liquid will also soak into the baits and give them more of a boost. The only thing I would add to this now is sweetcorn. Like the Manilla boilies, corn is incredibly digestible. It also has that visual element that the carp can pick up on very quickly, making it one of the best winter baits around.
If the rules allow and I feel that it is needed, I do sometimes add some maggots in to the mix. Again, they are a winter classic and cannot be overlooked.
