We all dream of a red-letter session when we go fishing, but very few sessions end up like they did for Brandon Martin and his dad, Phil. They landed a ridiculous 105 carp, up to 31 lbs, during a 48-hour session!

The pair were fishing on Shearwater Lake in Wiltshire. With the weather forecast predicting a significant increase in temperatures, they hoped to fish the shallow end of the lake, expecting the fish to gather there to take advantage of the sunshine.

"We planned to fish the shallows as the weather was due to be hot and knew that’s where most of the fish would be holding up," Brandon told us.

"Arriving at the lake, it was really busy for a Monday, but we managed to secure the final two pegs at the shallow end of the lake."

Their instinct paid off as the pair were into action from the start. Persistent baiting and casting allowed them to make the most of the shoal of fish in front of them.

"We opted to fish simple blowback rigs with krill active wafter hook baits to make rebaiting and recasting more efficient."

"The fish were really on the feed, and we got through 9kg of Sticky Krill Boilies. I don't think we could have overfed the swim."

"We ended the session with 105 carp, with my dad breaking his PB three times, ending on a 27lbs 8oz fish, and my biggest being a 31lb mirror," he concluded.
