Bream are widely known to be a shoal fish, meaning if you find one, you can often find the lot! That was certainly the case for Robert Downey on a recent trip to Wem Angling Club's Hawk Lake, where on an afternoon session he caught an incredible 170lb net of bream.

His red-letter catch included 31 different slabs to 8lb, some nice roach and a bonus tench, and all fell to a running cage feeder fished at 40-yards range.

His son James told Angling Times: "He had a 6lb bream first cast, with the bite coming before he'd even sunk the line."

"Casting straight back out, he was clearly on the nose of a shoal, as the bites just kept coming!

"Five hours later, he'd had a fish every few minutes, it was a session we'll all remember and the celebrations are ongoing!"

Chopped worm was the winning hookbait for Robert, a known bream favourite!
