One of the most sensational hauls of specimen bream was recorded recently when Ben Wilson landed over 20 double-figure bream in a day session. Among the 20, he landed a new PB of 15lb 2oz and another five fish over 14lb in what can only be described as one of the best bream sessions ever!
Arriving at Lower Maynard Lake on the Walthamstow complex, Ben quickly settled into a swim that had a favourable wind pushing in. Expecting to catch a few fish, he promptly got some bait out into the area in the hope of drawing in some of the big bream he knew resided in the venue.

"I arrived at 7am and deposited 12 Spombs of my chosen spicy fishmeal groundbait with crushed hemp, krill micro pellets, dead red maggots, chopped worm and hemp oil to an area at approx 50 yards," Ben told us.
"My chosen feeder rigs comprised of 60g feeders coupled with 10lb main line, 6lb hooklinks and a size 14 hook."
"Hookbaits for the day were 8mm Krill Soft hooker Pellets tipped with a single red maggot, something I have used with confidence for years."
Upon baiting up the swim and casting out, Ben immediately started noticing some activity in the area and, before long, had his first bite of the session.

"Within 10 minutes of casting out, I had bream showing all over the baited area, and shortly after, the bobbin dropped back and the first fish of the day waslaying in my net," he said.
"Bites then came consistently for the next 9 hours, resulting in over 20 fish into double figures and also breaking my PB four times along the way."
"Around midday, I noticed the bites were starting to slow a little, and I just felt I was losing the shoal, so 12 more Spombs of bait were introduced. Ten minutes later, the action began again."
"By 5pm I was completely out of bait and had caught over 20 doubles in what was the most memorable bream session I am ever likely to have," Ben concluded.
The best fish of the session included bream of 15lb 2oz (new Pb) 14lb 12oz, 14lb 10oz, 14lb 8oz, 14lb 3oz, 14lb 2oz, 13lb 13oz, 13lb 11oz, 13lb 8oz, 13lb 4oz, 13lb 2oz, 12lb 10oz.
