After becoming the first person to win the Maver Match This title twice just last week, Jamie Hughes has now secured his place in the highly anticipated Golden Reel Final following a stunning performance in the final qualifier at Hallcroft Fisheries in Retford.

Drawing peg 5 on the Moat Inner, Hughes took full advantage of his end peg, weighing in an incredible 504lb. In the warm, overcast conditions, Jamie opted for a long pole approach, alternating between fishing shallow and on the deck, depending on where the fish were feeding.

From the all-in, Jamie consistently caught carp, landing a total of around 80 fish ranging between 4 and 15lb. His impressive haul outpaced the rest of the field by a staggering 300lb margin. This dominant victory has earned him a spot in the Golden Reel Final, set to take place at Larford Lakes, and it would be hard to bet against an angler in such fine form.

The Golden Reel Final presents Hughes with another opportunity for a significant payday. Following his recent win in the Maver Match This final, where he secured £50,000 at Hayfield Lakes, Hughes will be aiming to replicate his success and claim another £50,000 prize and a second Golden Reel title after winning it in 2019.
