THE IMPRESSIVE stocks of silvers in commercial fisheries are no secret these days, and at one Midlands venue last week eight match anglers shared a simply mind-blowing haul of bream.
Fishing at Staffordshire’s Baden Hall Fishery, on the Doughnut Pool, they weighed in 872lb between them, with the top three in the match all having well over 100lb.

Andrew Griffifths was the individual winner with an almighty 182lb 11oz net, made up of 66 bream and eight F1s.
“The fishing is amazing for silvers here,” he told us. “I caught them on the pole, fishing the steep far shelf with corn and maggots over groundbait. The previous match record was 162lb, so I was delighted to break that.”
