Matt Theodore and his eight-year-old son, Jackson, have enjoyed a phenomenal year on the famous Throop Fishery on the Dorset Stour, catching three chub over the 7lb mark and a remarkable 8lb 1oz specimen.
“On a recent trip, I landed this fish, weighing 8lb 1oz, and it left me shocked," he said.
“When I first hooked it, I thought it was a barbel or a river carp.
“It weeded me up pretty well, but my lad did an ace job with the landing net and scooped it up. He’s had fish to 6lb 3oz as well!
“The fish fell to a simple running rig, using hair-rigged luncheon meat on a size 8 hook and a fluorocarbon hooklink.”
