A 90-year-old angler has proven that age is no barrier to success within the sport after he bagged the silverware in a popular silverfish series.

Jim Taylor decided to enter the Middlesbrough AC & Northumbrian Water Reservoir Masters, and he soon showed he wasn't there to make up the numbers during the three matches at Lockwood Beck.

He and 23 others battled against the wind and rain during round one in late April, with Jim taking a section win thanks to a 5lb 4oz net of silvers.

He managed a match win in round two, before bagging second in zone in the third and final outing to finish on four points alongside another pair of competitors.

His 25lb 7oz overall total was just enough to push Russ Hodgson's 24lb 8oz total into second and bag him the £300 top prize.

The final match of the series also saw the venue match record smashed, with Ian Kirton using the feeder to bag an impressive 48lb 6oz of bream and skimmers.
