Yet another match weight nudging the 1,000lb mark has been bagged…and it’s not the usual candidate that has produced the mammoth haul this time round.
Dorset’s Todber Manor Fisheries has thrown up a series of mega hauls in recent weeks, with several of them breaking into quadruple figure territory.
Most anglers believed that no other venue could follow that act, but a fishery located over 270 miles from Todber caused a major shock when it came within a whisker of doing so.

Top match angler Adam Richards was the man to achieve the feat, taking part in an event at North Yorkshire’s Forest Lane Fisheries. Having drawn peg 17 on The Vale, he fished shallow with meat at short range to target the lake's stock of carp, chub and barbel.
It was hectic action from the word go and by the time the final whistle went, he had landed a breath-taking 990lb 12oz.

Writing on his Facebook page, Adam said: “It’s been solid for the whole match and I caught around 900 fish, setting a new venue record. Running out of bait cost me catching over 1000lb!”
Second place was never in contention to spoil Adam’s day, but there was no shortage of bites for Dave Cain either, with his haul from peg 23 tallying up to 593lb 3oz.
