“I’ve done 20 nights this season on my quest to catch a really huge eel, and landed six along the way – two ‘threes’, two ‘fours’ and, following the capture of this latest 6lb 11oz fish, a pair of six-pounders.
“They’ve come from a venue near my home in Tuxford, Notts, and I think that the moon phases have really played a part, because each fish has come on either a full or a new moon.
“This latest one fell to a rudd tail suspended on a Dyson rig 3ft off the bottom in 5ft of water, and what a fish it was!
“I’ve never seen such fat eels in my life, so I’m confident that I’m at the right place to catch a real monster. The beauty of eels for me is the unknown, and no matter what venue you target, you’re always fishing for a truly wild fish.
“A big eel is a creature like no other!”
