A HEAVY frost didn’t deter Oxford angler Paul Scowen from making a trip to a South East reservoir, where he took this lovely 4lb 7oz perch.
Arriving to find his bow-mounted motor had frozen in its bracket, Paul had to use the water in his flask to thaw it out before it could be deployed. He then set about locating the fish, and found they were tightly balled up, due likely to the drop in temperature.
Paul noticed that the perch weren’t particularly reactive to his lures, but eventually got one to take, and after a dogged fight the fish lay in the net.
He returned the following morning and added another fine perch weighing 4lb 1oz.
