Most UK carp anglers dream of catching a 40lb carp in their lifetime, with the most determined among them aiming for a 50lb fish. So, when an angler lands both a 40lb and a 50lb fish within minutes of each other, it truly is a special feat of angling.

Scott Rogers had his dreams come true on his latest session at a Cambridgeshire pit, where he netted a carp of 40lb quickly followed by a monstrous fish that weighed 57lb 4oz, which incidentally is also a new PB for him, topping off a remarkable session.

"Well, what can I say? After a tough week fishing a Cambridge pit, I was starting to worry that the hopes of catching a fish were all but fading away," Scott informed us.

"However that all changed as I woke on Friday morning to a savage take on my middle rod, which completely took me by surprise, and had my adrenaline pumping."

"I got to the rod and engaged in a monumental battle with a carp that proceeded to take me from weed bed to weed bed, and after 15–20 minutes, I finally managed to see it at the bottom of my net," he recalled.

"It was a lovely fish which we weighed at bang on 40lb, and a new PB for me! But as if that wasn’t good enough, just after I finished getting pictures of the fish, my left rod was away."

"As soon as I lifted into it, I knew it was a big fish. It just plodded about, staying deep, kiting left and right, trying its best to weed me. But with constant pressure, I managed to tire the fish out."

"As I walked back with the rod held high, weed all over the line, my good friend Alex netted it. It's safe to say there was some loud shouting and screaming going on!"

"I couldn’t believe my eyes—my new UK PB, 57.04lb, and to top it off, a 97.04lb brace. What a morning! One I will never forget," Scott concluded.
