"A start on a new Essex water has been good. After getting to the venue and having a good walk around, I had a lead around and found a nice clear area among the weed at ten wraps, close to where I had seen the fish," Dave told us.
"As it was my first night, I put two rods in the clear spot and fished them tight, both rigged with 18lb Fluorocast and 18 inches of rock-bottom tubing, uni lead clip, and a short anti-tangle sleeve, with 10 inches of Combi-X 25lb on the no blowback rig."
"The hook was a size 4 Apex break point. The first bite came at 10:30 that night, and it was a lovely 36lb mirror."
