Angling Trust appoints new England disabled team manager

The Angling Trust has announced the appointment of Paul Etherington as the new manager of the England Anglers with Disabilities squad. Paul brings a wealth of experience to the role, boasting expertise in team management and a long history of supporting anglers with disabilities.

Building on success

Paul joins the team with a strong foundation laid by outgoing manager John Weeden. John has agreed to continue his remarkable fundraising efforts, ensuring financial support for the squad and its members.

A vision for the future

“Paul impressed the interview panel with his ambitious plans,” said Steve Fitzpatrick, Angling Trust Head of Competitions. Highlighting Paul’s goals of:

  • Developing grassroots opportunities for disabled anglers.

  • Expanding assessment days to identify new talent.

  • Supporting the Disabled National Championships.

  • Raising the profile of disability angling across England.

"I understand the challenges ahead," Paul stated, "but I'm fully committed to building a successful team." He expressed his gratitude to the Angling Trust for the opportunity and emphasised his eagerness to get started.
