A TRIP to the Hampshire Avon resulted in this excellent 2lb 11oz roach for Dorset rod Graham Blackmun.
He targeted a 10ft-deep slack just off the main flow, close to the bank, where he introduced maggots and hemp with a bait dropper to get his feed down to the deck.
He presented a double maggot hookbait beneath a 2.5g pole float and had a really productive session, landing around 30 roach – half of which weighed over 1lb – plus a few dace.
