There was a familiar face at the top of the pile during the latest festival at Shropshire's Monkhall Fisheryas Andy Bennett scooped the glory.

The Guru-backed star drew peg 14 on Buzzard Pool on the opening day and got off to a solid start, coming second in section with 167lb 10oz. He was never in contention to win the zone, with Preston Innovations's Jonathan Jowett putting an impressive 233lb 6oz on the scales to win the day outright from peg 12.

With the likes of former Fish O'Mania champions Jamie Hughes and Kristian Jones winning their section at the first time of asking, there was every chance that Andy was out of the running for the title, with most believing a perfect score would be needed.

Undeterred by such talk, he fished a positive match from peg 10 on Buzzard on day two and was into carp and F1s from the off. Once the final whistle went it was clear he had won his section and that was confirmed when he tipped 294lb on to the scales. That was over 100lb clear of second in section Tom Scholey.

There was then an anxious wait to see if anyone had gained a perfect score and once news filtered back that nobody had achieved that feat, it was over to weight count back to decide the victor.

Four anglers were locked on three points and it soon become clear that Andy's mammoth weights were enough to get his hands on the trophy and the £1,600 cheque. He totalled 461lb 10oz, with second placed Connor Barlow recording 434lb 12oz. Third placed Kristian Jones had 428lb 4oz, with Tom Scholey slotting in to fourth with 297lb 10oz.
