Big 16cm bait fools monster zander as the light fades

Since the start of autumn, we’ve had loads of reports from predator anglers, who’ve been out in force.

Few have had a better start to their campaign than Gloucestershire angler Luke Jordan who, after landing numerous 4lb perch from Midlands reservoirs, turned his attention to zander and duly landing this 17lb 5oz cracker.

He’d been fishing with small shads but, with the light starting to fade, he decided to ‘go big or go home’ and switched to a 16cm bait.

Within 30 minutes he hit into what he thought might’ve been a pike, but when the big zander surfaced, he wasted no time in netting it!
