COLOURED water didn’t deter Pontefract angler Paul Bailey, who landed this 4lb 12oz perch from a local canal in West Yorkshire.
He was on the point of turning back and heading for home after seeing that overnight rain had left the venue heavily coloured. But he stuck it out, and an hour later his persistence paid off.
Paul fished two rods, one with prawn, the other with worm, down the main channel and on the edge of the near shelf. It was on the prawn rod that he had an indication and struck into what was clearly a good fish.
Paul noted that the fight seemed ‘longer than it probably was’, as he sensed he had something special on the end. It’s Paul’s new PB from the venue, and he’s delighted that he decided to stay.
