Top feeder angler Graham West got more than he bargained for when he put together a big haul of bream during a session on a huge stillwater.

The Brown’s Angling and MAP backed star headed to Hertfordshire’s Alban’s Lakes on a bitterly cold day to create media content.

Graham West and his 50lb-plus haul of bream.

Avoiding a blank was the first job and he set about doing that with cage feeder tactics presented at range. A dark fishmeal groundbait mix that included a small quantity of maggots and micro pellets was packed into the feeder and launched 55m out.

Despite having the odds stacked against him, his ploy soon paid off, with a series of impressive slabs to over 6lb coming to the net. He ended the day with a dozen fish for over 50lb.

Speaking after the session Graham told Angling Times: “The conditions were against us and on such a huge expanse of water, you just never know what is going to happen. That said, I know just how good this venue is and it is right up there with the bream waters in the land.”
