The organisers of the first match fishing tournament to ever pay out £100,000 to the overall winner have revealed that the 2024 event has been cancelled.
The Fishing Association Super Cup was billed as angling’s version of the FA Cup when it was launched in 2021, with entrants going through a series of head-to-head match ups via open matches. Those that won enough of those duals then bagged a place in the mega-money grand finale at North Yorkshire’s Woodland Lakes.

Preston Innovations-backed star Zac Brown claimed the six-figure sum with a 208lb haul and since then there have been two other champions (albeit with smaller prizes for the eventual winner), with Pemb Wrighting winning in 2022 before Pete Upperton walked away with the title in 2023.
Ticket sales for the 2024 event had already gone on sale, but a statement on the tournament’s Facebook page revealed it will not run this year.
It said: “It is with sadness I (presumably event organiser Steve Dorks) must report, that due to personal issues, I am unable to fulfil the commitment required to run this year's Super Cup. Please be patient as we arrange for all entries to be refunded. The Super Cup will return.”
