They responded in their droves, with thousands of metres of old line being donated to the cause. It was collected by Gardner Tackle sales rep Mike Lyddon and taken to Oxford to be processed.

Fishing line can take over 600 years to degrade in landfill, with an eye-watering 400 million metres binned eyer year.

Specialised recycling techniques have seen discarded line turned into various items, with the frames of SightLine polarised sunglasses made from 40% recycled mono and 60% commercial net material.
