An angler from Kent has just taken one of the best carp hauls ever by a UK angler in Europe.

Jason Rider spent nine days on an Austrian gravel pit and in that time landed a remarkable ten 30lb-plus carp, 24 40lb-plus carp, two fifties, three sixties and four seventies - including an enormous brace!

A huge 79lb common topped Jason's remarkable haul of carp.

"I've been fishing for carp for forty years and traveling overseas for 25 of those," Jason told us.

"I've been robbed in Romania, held up at gun point in Slovakia and arrested in the Ukraine. Apart from finding Lake Bled in 2007, there has been nothing to compare to this."

The highlight of the simply amazing catch of big carp was a 73lb mirror and a 79lb common in the net at the same time, after bites on each rod, certainly one of the biggest braces of carp ever taken.

Huge mirrors were also taken during Jason's trip.

"I set myself a target at the start of the pandemic to catch 40lb fish from 40 different venues, which I did on route to Austria," Jason said.

"My other target was to catch 100 fish over 50lb in five years, I'm on 99 with a year to go, and 30 days left of this European tour.
