Cheese paste bait brings first ‘seven’ chub on rising river

Cheese paste is one of the all-time best chub fishing baits and is particularly effective in high and coloured river conditions like we have seen recently.

Knowing just how good it is as a bait, Simon Bishop visited the Dorset Stour armed with paste and went on to beat his personal best by 2oz with his first-ever 'seven'.

“The river was rising and running fast, so I targeted a near-bank slack just off a crease," he told Angling Times.

"I fed a few small balls of paste before casting, and within a minute I had a proper bite."

“My heart was in my mouth from the off, as I could tell it was a good fish from its initial head thumps. I became even more nervous after catching sight of it!

"It weighed 7lb 1oz, beating my old PB by 2oz, making it my first-ever ‘seven’!"
