A GROUP of generous anglers have delivered a huge boost to the future prospects of the England Disabled Team after donating over £7,500 to the cause.

Wey Valley Disabled AA was founded in 1986 but is winding up its activities after more than 35 years of working to increase opportunities for less able-bodied anglers to fish. But rather than slip quietly away, they’re making an impact on a cause close to their hearts.

“Our club has produced anglers who have fished for England in the World Champs, and knowing the struggles the team face for financing, we’re proud to support them,” said club secretary Dave Phillips.

Team England Disabled manager, Jon Weeden, was overwhelmed by the club’s generosity.

“Without this kind of support, we couldn’t compete,” he said. “We’re so grateful to them – their help will see us back on the bank in 2023.”
