Terry Theobald is well-known for his specimen fishing and has built a reputation as one of the country’s top specimen hunters. During his latest session, he landed three impressive crucian carp, weighing 3lb 4oz, 2lb 8oz, and a superb fish of 3lb 10oz.

Terry was fishing a two-day session on a Shropshire lake, which is not always the easiest venue but does hold some quality fish.

"I had 48 hours at my disposal and decided to fish a quiet Shropshire fishery in the hope of catching some of the large crucian carp I know reside in the lake," Terry told us.

"The session got off to a great start with a 2lb 8oz crucian and a few massive roach, including a 2lb 5oz specimen."

"The second night was much like the first, with very little to show. This doesn’t deter me, though, as I know very few crucian carp get caught during the hours of darkness."

"On the final morning, I landed a brace of 3lb fish, including one really good specimenthat tipped the scales to a very healthy 3lb 10oz."

"It was a long-overdue personal best, surpassing my previous record of 3lb 9oz from 1979, which has been one of my longest-standing personal records. It was a great end to a fantastic session."

"All my fish were caught using my faithful Korum 3K all-rounder rod and Korum 4-inch hair rigs with quickstops and a size 14 hook, in conjunction with a method feeder," Terry concluded.
