Eels aren't every anglers favourite, but when they get to specimen proportions, they are certainly worth the admiration they get from those who target them. Eel fishing can be a long and lonely passion, with so few big fish present now, it can be almost impossible to track them down let alone catch one, but Eddie Wilson proved you can do it, all you need is some dedication.

“I’ve been fishing a large Nottinghamshire pit lately in search of its elusive eels," Eddie told us.

“After I found them, multiple fish came overnight. The largest was this one of 5lb 14oz, which took a lobworm hookbait just as the sun started to break through."

“A great battle followed before I could net it and look down in awe at the beautiful specimen.”
