As an angling parent, there aren't many better scenarios than enjoying time on the bank with your kids, especially if they take to fishing and really start to enjoy it. Lee Howard was one such angler who, while enjoying a session with his son Alfie, caught some truly memorable fish, including a whopping 4lb 5oz perch.
With a couple of hours to spare after Alfie finished school, the pair decided to do a short session on a park lake close to their home. With their lure rods in hand, they had a very successful couple of evenings angling, catching numerous small pike. Lee landed the big perch mentioned earlier, while Alfie caught a 3lb 1oz fish.

"While I've been an avid angler for years, it's only recently that Alfie has shown a real interest in fishing, and with him now asking to go, it's a perfect scenario for me," Lee told us.
"With the lighter evenings drawing in, we've been making the most of the better weather and trying to get out after school. We have a lake close to our house that's full of fish, so it's the perfect venue for us."
"Alfie and I both like our lure fishing. It keeps us active and interested, and we aren't stuck in one spot," Lee added.
"We tend to opt for smaller lures and have been particularly successful with some 3-inch rubber shads, as we're just happy to be getting bites."
"We went fishing for a few hours after school on Monday, and I managed to catch the 4lb 5oz perch. We both caught a few small pike as well, roughly 6-7lb, but we didn't weigh the pike."
"We went back the following evening after school, and Alfie caught a 2lb 15oz perch along with a couple of small pike. Later, Alfie caught the 3lb 1oz perch."
