Five-year-old Harry Burton was on his first ever fishing session with his dad, Richard, when he landed this huge 5lb 12oz eel, which was also his first ever fish.
The duo were fishing at Manor Farm Leisure near Evesham when Harry cast his Method feeder out into the lake while his dad set up the rest of their gear. Before long, Harry received his first ever bite and was playing what his dad presumed was a carp, however, an eel that was longer than him surfaced, leaving his dad in disbelief!
"It was our first fishing session together, as Harry had been asking to go fishing for a while, and as the weather looked promising, we went for it," Richard told us.
"I set up some Method feeders on our rods as it is usually productive at this fishery, and it gave Harry time to help me get the rest of the gear together."
"He loaded and cast his own feeder out, and it wasn't in the water five minutes before he had a bite that nearly pulled in his rod."
"I assumed it was a carp, as there are plenty in the lake and it was pulling quite hard, however, I couldn't believe my eyes when a huge eel surfaced."
"We struggled to get it into the net, and it was easily longer than Harry. It's not often you catch a fish bigger than you, let alone your first ever fish."
"Harry didn't want to handle it too much, so we got a quick snap and sent it on its way, it is a fish neither of us will ever forget!" Richard concluded.
