A BRACE of big roach is the dream of many a specialist angler, but Kent angler Daniel Woolcott went one step further during a memorable trip last week when he banked a ‘brace of braces’ in the form of two 3lb 8oz roach, plus a pair of 3lb 2oz fish just for good measure!
Targeting a low-stock pit, Dan managed the staggering quartet – which had a combined weight of 13lb 4oz – during a hectic early morning feeding spell, with all his fish falling to maggot feeder tactics alongside maggot hookbaits. These were fished over a bed of maggots, hemp, worms, casters and Dynamite Baits Silver X groundbait.
The remarkable catch was just reward for Dan after a number of blanks on the rock-hard venue.
