It’s no surprise to anyone who fishes regularly or follows angling media that participation rates among junior anglers and young people taking up the sport are dwindling each year. While this decline is widely acknowledged, it’s fair to say that few take active steps to encourage the next generation to embrace the sport. Those who do often face significant challenges, including a lack of funding and investment.

Well-known angler and OMC Tackle owner Ali Hamidi along with Cypography's Elliot Gray have taken an inspiring step to address this issue with the release of this new book, The Rod Squad. The book, authored by Kes Gray follows five young anglers on various fishing adventures and is designed to be as interactive and engaging as possible.

Complete with stickers and beautifully illustrated pages by Stannart, it aims to introduce children to the magic of angling and inspire them to give the sport a try.

Understanding the financial pressures faced by schools and educational institutions, Ali is offering 200 complimentary copies of The Rod Squad to those who work with children. If you’d like to register your interest, you can do so via email at info@onemorecast.co.uk.
