"This fish has seriously blown me away. After so many nights on the riverbanks with my brother, in all conditions, searching for perch, pike, and zander, we finally smashed our expectations," Tiger told us.
"We started the session slowly, spending a couple of hours battling heavy wind and rain for a single bite, which I subsequently lost after a strong run. We then tried two other spots, but apart from a few snags, we had no luck," he said.
"Then, at the fourth spot, the weather finally settled, allowing us to fish comfortably. Working a large slack, we kept alternating lures, retrieves, and weights to find a pattern that the fish would respond to."
"I switched to a 12cm shad and made a long cast up the slack. On the first couple of turns of the handle, I felt a light resistance that gradually increased, followed by a few head shakes and then an explosive run—my rod doubled over, and the reel screamed."
After a tense battle in the horrendous weather, Tiger and his brother managed to stop this fish getting into the snags and before long they bundled a huge fish into their net. When the pair peered into the mesh, they couldn't believe what was staring back at them.
"This fish has seriously blown me away. After so many nights on the riverbanks with my brother, in all conditions, searching for pike, perch and zander, we truly exceeded our expectations with this capture, it is the fish of a lifetime!"
"It is one of the craziest-looking fish I’ve ever seen in the flesh—the proportions just didn’t make sense. 87cm of big, wild, lure-caught river zander," he concluded.
