Huge carp can be caught very close to the bank (even abroad!) , as proven by Garry Porter on a recent session to Italy's Parco Del Brenta last week.
Fishing just 6ft out in the margins in around 6ft of water on the 35-acre venue, Gary landed this massive 75lb mirror carp, shattering his personal best by over 20lb in the process.

"This fish is particularly special as a good friend and fellow big fish hunter sadly passed away on Wednesday and his brother said to me 'go break his PB (67lb) if you still have time'," Gary told us.
"The fish put up a very hard battle in the margin for around 15 minutes before moving like a torpedo for deeper water.
"I was thrilled to finally get it in and beat my friend's PB, I believe he was looking down on me for that titanic struggle."
In total Garry banked six other fish in his trip weighing 50lb 4oz, 43lb 8oz, 36lb 4oz, 33lb 6oz, 20lb and 15lb.
He dedicated the biggest to his friend, Ian 'Nipper' Fowell.
