ON his very first visit to a new syndicate water, Lincolnshire angler Mark Hodges banked the biggest pike in the pit in the shape of this impressive 32lb specimen.
Mark travelled to the Nottinghamshire water and cast a lamprey injected with oil 25 yards out over the near shelf.
At first, the fish felt quite small until it came up and over the shallow ledge, where the real fight began. Ten minutes later he got his first proper glimpse of the fish’s substantial girth, and was then left shaking after it managed to slip out of the net at the first time of asking. Mark kept his cool though, and scooped up his new PB.
