This season we’ve had more rudd reported than ever before, and Dan Woolcott got in on the action with this beauty weighing 3lb 7oz.
Targeting a northern venue far from his home in Kent, the property surveyor was delighted to land the fish.
“It’s a tricky water,” he told us,
“but fishing over a bed of dead maggots, hemp and groundbait resulted in a bite on my maggot hookbait, presented on a short fluorocarbon hooklink on a helicopter set-up.
“As soon as I hooked it, the tell-tale headshakes and kiting confirmed it was the one I was after.
“It’s a great start to the season, and I’m really happy with this catch after all the effort that I’ve put into fishing the venue!”
