Gary Knowles couldn't have asked for a better first roach trip of the season than the one he spent at a Shropshire stillwater recently.
In a mad flurry of action, the Korum backed all-rounder banked a superb haul of big roach weighing 2lb 1oz, 2lb 4oz and 2lb 6oz, before catching the first-ever 'three' from the venue at 3lb 1oz.
"The fight was incredible," he told us.

"I'd seen a couple of hefty swirls and a huge silver flank, so I knew I was playing a special fish.
"I'm sure this won't be the last fish of this size from the venue, somewhere that has produced roach to 2lb 14oz for me in the past."
Gary used a helicopter set-up with a ground bait feeder and maggots to catch the amazing specimen.
