LEGENDARY angler Matt Hayes hit television screens across the nation last night, where he called for people in power to take action against pollution in our waterways.

Joining Laurence Fox on GB News, Matt explained how the state of our rivers and coast is the worst he’s seen in his lifetime.

<strong>Matt said UK rivers are "in the worst state he has ever seen"</strong>

“I want our rivers to be cleaned up,” he pleaded.

“I’m fed up with the fact that nobody in authority seems to have any passion for the subject.

"People with influence have a responsibility; they’ve been trusted with part of our heritage.”

<strong>Matt loves his river fishing</strong>

In the same programme, Matt spoke positively about the huge benefits of fishing, not only on society and to people, but also to fish.

“The mental health benefits you can achieve with fishing, as well as the thrill and chance for reflection, is a healing balm," he says.

“Anglers are policemen of our waterways. It’s time for us to stand up and be counted.”
