A recent filming session on the prolific Drennan Lindholme Lakes saw match fishing ace, May Potter, bag what can only be described as a freak F1 that weighed 8lb 8oz, considerably bigger than the assumed ceiling weight of F1s, which normally grow to a maximum of about 6lb.

The fish that is a cross between a crucian and a common carp came whilst May, was showcasing the advantages of shallow fishing and whilst she has caught big F1's in the past, this fish was a complete shock.

"I was fishing the pole shallow with a jigger float and pellets as I always do when targeting these fish as the water warms up," she said.

"When I initially hooked the fish I thought it was a carp and I could not believe my eyes when a monstrous F1 appeared, it is certainly the largest F1 I have seen, let alone caught!"

MAKE SURE YOU'RE USING ONE OF THE BEST FISHING POLES WHEN TARGETING F1'S LIKE THIS.
