THE Trent at Gunthorpe has been on fire for barbel this season, and Beverley angler Benjamin Briggs got in on the action when he banked this 17lb 9oz personal best.
Arriving at 11am, he cast his two rods out before losing what felt like a good fish. Then his other rod slammed round, and after a 10-minute battle he landed the 17-pounder that smashes his previous PB by over 2lb.
Benjamin landed other fish to 13lb, all on 14mm Frankfurter Spice pellets.
