A 1lb dace is a fish of a lifetime, and many anglers go their whole lives without ever seeing one, let alone catching one. However, 11-year-old Logan Thomas managed a feat many could only dream of.
On his first session of the new season, Logan went to his local chalk stream with his dad, Jason, and managed to catch two enormous dace weighing 1lb and 1lb 1oz within minutes of each other.
“My 11-year-old son Logan is quite the angler, and many special fish have already graced his net," Jason told us.
“On the opening day of the season, he managed two phenomenal fish, catching dace of 1lb 1oz and 1lb exactly from our local chalk stream."
“He had them on light trotting gear, and caught a few chub and roach too, but these dace were the stand-out specimens.
“A 10ft rod, 6lb mainline and 3lb hooklink was the successful tackle, with maggots as hookbait.”
