BIG stillwaters throw up some fantastic perch sport at this time of year, as all-rounder Karl Bird discovered on a trip to Huntingdon’s Grafham Water.
He landed five perch, the biggest being this 4lb 8oz fish, backed up by others of 4lb 6oz, 4lb 5oz, and two big ‘threes’.
All the four-pounders came in the last 45 minutes of the session when he switched to a deep-diving crankbait. Since childhood, Karl dreamed of catching a 4lb perch, and says landing three in quick succession ‘blew his mind’!
