Congratulations to Jamie Hughes on his impressive victory in the 13th Maver Match This Grand Final, held at the picturesque Hayfield Lakes in Doncaster.

Jamie's victory is even more remarkable considering his previous win in the competition, making him the first angler to win the prestigious title twice! Adding to that his three Fish 'O' Mania titles, Golden Reel triumphs and a UK Champs victory it's hard to argue that he is one of, if not the most, consistent anglers in the country.

The day was very hot, calm, and bright—completely the opposite of what was forecast—which played into Jamie's hands. His match-winning approach involved targeting carp on the surface, fishing shallow, and mugging, while also catching skimmers on the bottom during any quiet periods.

He was run close after building an initial lead when Tom Edwards had a great run of fish after the halfway point, leaving everyone in doubt as to who had won. However, it was the previous champion who just did enough, weighing in at 68 kg to Tom's 66 kg, which saw him walk away with a £50,000 cheque.

Final Result:

1st Jamie Hughes, Peg 5 (Little Adams, Permanent Peg 18) – 68.175kg (150lb 03oz)

2nd Tom Edwards, Peg 25 (Big Adams, Permenent Peg 81) – 66.075Kg (145lb 07oz)

3rd Ashley Blunt, Peg 8 (Little Adams, Permenent Peg 29) – 54.975Kg (121lb 02oz)
