Kings Weir Fishery produces another massive barbel

Having spent the day fishing with hemp and casters, something told Julian Barnes that he should change to a lump of luncheon meat as darkness descended, and an hour after doing so he banked this colossal 19lb 14oz barbel.

It was caught from the River Lea at Kings Weir, a fishery in scintillating form and, remarkably, is a different fish to the two twenty-pounders and the other ‘19’ landed late last year!

Julian, who reckons that the hemp and casters he used initially could well have encouraged the fish to feed in his swim, braved brutal winds and rain on his session, but that was part of his plan, as he knew the cold front that followed would switch the fish off.

THE BEST BARBEL RODS WILL HELP YOU TAME HUGE FISH LIKE THIS ONE JULIAN CAUGHT.
