A rare match is set to be held on a lake home to giant roach and bream that have caught the eye of some of the biggest stars in angling.

Birmingham’s Alvechurch Fisheries is made up of four waters, with House Pool usually reserved for pleasure anglers.

That is all set to change for one day when the complex hosts a special festive pairs match. House has been in brilliant silverfish form since the winter kicked in, with roach to just over 2lb and bream to 8lb caught every week from the pool.

The venue holds some big roach and bream.

It’s proved so good that Winning Ways duo Andy May and Jamie Hughes filmed their latest challenge on it, with both of them getting amongst the big silvers.

The pairs contest will see one angler fish House, with the other on Arrow Pool which is packed with ide and skimmers.
