Perhaps the most extraordinary of all fish reported to Angling Times this year is this 16lb 10oz barbel, landed by Berkshire angler Adam Jones on a lure from a weir pool on the Thames while perch fishing.
“All hell broke loose when I connected with it on my TRD lure, and it made charging runs into the depths,” he told us.
“I held on tight with my under-gunned set-up, before landing what could be the biggest UK barbel ever caught on a lure.”
