MASSIVE Kennet chub!

THE River Kennet has fallen off the specimen fishing radar a little in recent years, but it still holds some huge chub, as proved by this 8lb 1oz giant landed by Rob Walton.

Rob, from Reading, fed a pint of maggots with a bait dropper a rodlength out and slightly downstream of his position, before placing his triple maggot hookbait, with a smear of paste concealing the shank of the hook, over the top.

After 20 minutes he hooked a fish that he initially felt was a barbel, so imagine his delight when this huge chub surfaced! He added another chub of 6lb 13oz in the same session.
