A popular water at one of the nation’s biggest commercial fisheries is set for a major revamp.

Lincolnshire’s Lindholme Lakes is home to a series of well-stocked pools, with anglers travelling from all over the land to sample the prolific sport.

Strip Lake is now undergoing a transformation and has been temporarily drained. All the silt will be removed, with marginal shelves reconstructed after they eroded away over time.

The fish have been rehomed elsewhere while the work is conducted, and there were several shocks found during the netting process.

Big perch have been a regular feature on the lake in recent years and 20 over 2lb and 10 giants over 4lb were found. They have now been placed in Beeches Lake.

New stock will be added once the lake is refilled, with anglers set to be welcomed back on to it this spring.

In other news at the complex, venue owner Aaron Grantham has been nominated for an award that has nothing to do with his sterling efforts with the fishery.

Away from the day job he has become a passionate dog trainer and has successfully entered numerous contests including Crufts.

He has now been recognised for his success with a nomination in the Special Beginner of the Year category in the quirkily named ‘The Pawscars’. You can vote for Aaron by visiting https://www.thepawscars.org.uk/
